Basic Laws for DC Circuit
Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's laws of KVL and KCL are basic laws in DC circuit analysis.
Ohm's Law in Phasor Form
v=iR
where v and i are the voltage and current across a reistor,
R is the resistance, measured in ohms(¦¸).
KCL
Kirchhoff's current law(KCL) applies to a node, and is based on the law of conservation of charge.
KCL states that the sum of current entering a node(or a closed boundary) is zero, i.e.
i1 + i2 +... + in = 0
or the sum of the currents entering a node is equal to the sum of the currents leaving the node.
KVL
Kirchhoff's voltage law(KCL) applies to a loop , and is based on the law of conservation of energy.
KCL states that the sum of all voltages around a loop(or a closed path) is zero:
v1 + v2 +... + vn = 0
or the sum of voltage drops is equal to the sum of the voltage rises in a loop.
